Rain, rain go away
Running in the rain isn't much fun. Unfortunately, since I have committed to a certain amount of training each week sometimes I have to run in the rain. Today was one of those days. It also happened to be my first run since the city to bay last year of over an hour and I mapped a route that meant for the first 2.5km I was running uphill. It should have been enough for me to give up. And in the past I would have. But this time I didn't. Sure I ran a lot slower than normal and I felt pretty miserable the whole time but I finished the run and that has made me feel great. I just hope the rain goes away before my next run!

Pretty, Shiny, New Sneakers
After 4 years of wearing the same sneakers, today I decided to buy some new ones. Although I have loved my Mizunos, I went into the shop with an open mind and allowed the knowledgeable assistant to guide me through the choices.
We assumed my previous sneakers were selected for a need for stability. When I was assessed last time I wasn't very strong and could barely run 3km. I suggested a new assessment and was surprised to learn if we were just looking at my right foot, I would have been fine buying neutral sneakers. Unfortunately that broken ankle from 3 years ago meant that I would still need the more structured sneakers.
Next we looked at the different options in brands. I decided not to worry about price, rather find the shoe that fit and felt the best. It didn't take too long to pick out a pair of Nikes and surprisingly they were some of the cheaper ones. Even better when they scanned them in they were $30 cheaper than the tag said. The experience was really good and the assistant was very helpful. I don't want to make this an ad for them but they are the only running shop at Harbourtown.
Now to try them out. I'll be getting up at 6am for a run before work. I should also admit - they are purple - I wonder how they will look with my orange top?
